Welcome to Monday! We were out enjoying the best of O’ahu on Sunday… when I am out and about with my family, I always have my iPhone, but not always my professional camera and for obvious reasons. I love to use my iPhone, to push myself to be more creative and see the world through a more simplistic lens. It’s just a necessary way for me to document everyday life. I truly believe that being a professional photographer is more than being able to know how to use your camera. You also have to be able to see your world creatively and take the shot….. as well as to know how to work with your subjects to pull out their personalities to create that image. I’ll talk more about that in a future post. But for this post, it’s all about my iPhone and pushing my creativity. I recently installed the VSCO app. What I love about it is that it saves images in pretty large file sizes if you choose. Which is awesome! I also love the “fade” filter. All these photos were taken on my iPhone4s with the VSCO app.
This is my Bella. She’s got a style all her own.
Found our way to Makai Pier…
… and a rope swing…
… somehow my mini-van looks way coolor with those surfboards on top.
We headed east… we rarely go east, but when we do, it always takes my breath away…
Happy that my kids still had some energy to explore…
I love taking photos with a lot of negative space, in this case the sky. No fancy trickery here with wide angle lenses, pure iPhone.
Love taking photos of the plant life here.
My husband and oldest daughter checking out the tidepools…
There were three of these guys waiting around a tide pool for the next tide to come in and sweep them back out to sea.
I think that’s Rabbit Island in the distance… the water here is very blue, a beautiful blue!
Me on Friday with some Tiare flowers I found… braids are “in” this summer. Try out the VSCO app and tell me what you think. Are there any apps that you use that you enjoy? Happy Aloha Monday!
