It’s starting to warm up really quick and you know what that means?! Family photoshoots to update your family portraits! I know we need some updated photos, especially after this past year of staying home.

What I love about family photoshoots is really the families that I get to meet and the interaction between the kids and the parents and always the interaction between the kids. All ages are fun! I can usually tell what I’m going to get when I meet the kids and the ages that they are. I love that I’m usually with my families for less than an hour, its enough time to get the shots I need and everyone gets cranky and are hungry 🙂

Trust me, I’ve photographed hundreds of families and we have a lot of fun, but when I’ve got my shots and we are winding to a close, the kids (and dad) are ready to head out for a burger! LOL… we have a lot of fun together but these photoshoots are so worth it to have in your family album.

So what time of day is a good time to have a family photo session? Depends. Morning’s are the perfect time, the light is a cool blue and the temperature is still comfortable to be outside. I love shooting in the morning, but for some families, it’s hard to get out the door in the morning. Afternoons are beautiful, the light is warm and can offer a beautiful soft glow but it get’s hot outside quickly. I love shooting in the afternoon… basically, I love having photoshoots any time of day- except high noon as the sun can cast racoon eye shadows on your face and we don’t want that.

Can I come to your house for a photoshoot? Yes! Absolutely… but right now as we are coming out of hibernation with Covid and trying to return to normal, let’s wait a little while. If you have a spacious backyard, I’d love to photograph your family there. I can’t wait to return to in-home photoshoots, they are always so fun when you are in your own home.
