North Shore Beach, Oahu
We just decided to hop in the car and go to the beach and take a drive up north. Simple as that. I live about 30 minutes to the nearest beach. The west side toward North Shore is my favorite part of the island. Absolute favorite. So my girls and I took a drive and ended up at this beach. I don’t know the name of it. I just looked to the left, liked the view and found and open spot along side of the road and that’s where we stopped. It was about 11am on an absolutely gorgeous day. The water was a bit chillier or maybe it was the overall temperature that was a bit colder, after all, we still are technically in winter. I brought my camera and just savored everything. The smell of the ocean, the sound of the waves, the sand under my feet, the chill in the water, the veins in the foliage around me, the curves in the dead branches…. my girls exploring, growing up so fast… exploring further and further away from me… the little bit of mother’s anxiety hoping that they keep safe…. looking at my oldest daughter with a fresh pair of eyes and noticing the woman she is becoming… looking at my youngest daughter and savoring the little girl that she still is… lots of hand waving back and forth to each other from afar and lots of kisses, giggles and hugs when we were near…. it was a great couple of hours… just enough time to drive back and greet little brother from school.
