Family + Beach + Waimanalo

I’ve been blessed to meet and photograph some pretty amazing families. Jessica and John and their clan of 4 wee ones were no exception. John will be leaving for 10 months overseas for a military assignment  in a few months so this time as a family before his departure is especially cherished. I was very honored to be able to give to Jessica and John treasured moments captured through my lens.

Jessica has her hands full with three boys under the age of 6…. they were awesome! We met at the windward side and they were ready to get their show on!  I love that kids will be themselves and that’s how I want them to be! They were ready to have some fun and I wasn’t going to get in their way.  Each of these boys truly had their own unique personality.

The baby sister of the bunch. She did great! Part of being a photographer is being able to multi task… I held her in my left arm as I snapped off pictures with my right hand of mom and dad… keeps my arms toned. Isn’t she a cutie pie pie?

One of my favorite’s from this afternoon. I love that the boys are doing their own thing and John and Jessica are lovin’ up their little girl. I love that family portraiture doesn’t have to be always be posed and stiff and looking at the camera… thank you for putting your trust in me John and Jessica!

Jessica let me know that she never got engagement photos or wedding photos done and I was all too willing to take some portraits with just the two of them. It’s really important that these moments are captured… the afternoon light was all over the place and it made for amazing images… John’s hugs and knowing glances brought out the best in Jessica…. Simply stunning you two!

They are so relaxed with each other… even with the swirl of a herd of kids all over the place! At this moment, it was just the two of them…

I love these images together…. Amazing how Jessica looks just months after having her little girl… They love their daddy sooooo much!!!

After our session, I hung out for a bit and let the kids play around and I took some candids of the family. I love this one of the boys. Hawaii is so beautiful…. I love that I live here and get to photograph families in love and in happiness… makes my heart smile…

Military wives and families are a special breed.  Not only do their spouses sacrifice, but their families do as well.  Thank you for making our country and the world a better place for everyone.  I totally  mean that!!  THANK YOU!!   I had such a wonderful afternoon with you John and Jessica, J,J,J and G! … getting to know your family and seeing the deep love and adoration you have for one another. Thank you for trusting me and feeling comfortable with me and letting your love shine through. I hope you cherish these photo’s for many years to come. Much Love and Aloha, ~j
