Destination Family Vacation Photographer| Ko’Olina, O’ahu, Hawaii| The Melanson Family

I met BJ through email about 6 months ago or so.  We were connected by my old neighbor, who’s sister lives in Hawaii who happens to be one of BJ’s best friends, who is one of the best real estate agent, HANDS DOWN on O’ahu~ can I get an AMEN?   Does that make sense? Doesn’t matter. The point is my path crossed with BJ’s and she has been instrumental in my family’s relocation to Hawaii. Not only does BJ know her stuff about all things real estate, but she’s well versed in relocation therapy for a mainlander. She listens, sympathizes, offers suggestions, gives hugs and even lends out boogie boards.  BJ is probably one of the best that Hawaii has to offer as a one woman welcome committee …and I don’t hand out these kinds of compliments to just anyone.  She’s a special lady.

I had the honor of photographing her family last week at Ko Olina, Lagoon 2 at the Aulani Disney Resorts on O’ahu.  Lagoon 2 is currently my most favorite place on the entire planet and having BJ’s family there made it all the more fabulous.  Getting to know BJ in the past weeks, she spoke a lot about her 2 boys.  I felt like I knew them already and in my mind, I expected to meet teenagers.  My reality checked in when 2 young men greeted me with the traditional Hawaiian greeting, a hug and a kiss on the cheek (and 2 boxes of pizza for my keiki’s to munch on while playing on the shore).

The pizza was just a bonus, but BJ’s 2 boys were just as cordial and outstanding just as expected by all of BJ’s motherly gushing.  I know they were just happy to be making their mamma happy by fitting this family shoot into their busy schedules.   Mahalo Jerald and Jeremy!

Then there’s Joe. Uncle Joe. BJ’s hubby. What a nice man! All smiles, all hugs… nervous laughter… but in the end… the love shown through.

So beautiful BJ!

Last but not least, the furry member of this bunch, Alaka’i. He’s such a ham.
