Places to Eat on Oahu: Roy’s at Ko’Olina

Roys Ko'Olina, Places to Eat, Fine Dining, Restaurants at the BeachMy friend Jenn and I went to Roy’s at Ko’Olina.  I have been to Roy’s at Pebble Beach, California  many years ago and recalled that it was a culinary experience.  I couldn’t wait to try out Roy’s in Oahu.  Specifically, Ko’Olina.   There are 3 on Oahu, Waikiki,  Hawaii Kai and Ko’Olina on the west side of the island.  Jenn and I went for lunch.  We made reservations for 11:30 and were immediately seated on the outdoor deck overlooking the golf course.  It is completely shaded with a nice breeze.   Jenn opted for the “Bento”.   Gosh, doesn’t it look good?  Island Ahi, Garlic Fried chicken, salad, shrimp and vegetable tempura.  She said it was pretty delicious and very filling.  We both had the Lilikoi Ice Tea, yummy!

I chose Kunia Sugar Land Tomato &  Horseradish Bisque and an appetizer plate of crab cakes, Hawaii Kai Style Crispy Crab Cakes.  I’m not a huge eater and so this was perfect for me.  I love tomato soup and these tomatoes are locally grown.  The bisque hit the spot, although I don’t recall a hit of horseradish is my soup.  Still delicious, nonetheless.

The crab cakes were pretty good.  I would have liked them to be a tad bigger, but oh well, it still hit the spot.  It’s served on top of spicy sesame butter sauce an a side of pickled cucumbers (very refreshing).  I’m a big fan of sauces, pretty tasty accompaniment.

I chose soup and an appetizer plateJenn and I shared the Painter’s Pallet Dessert Plate.  Hawaiian Crown Pineapple, Lemon Basil, Mango, Strawberry, Lychee sorbet ball’s served on a palette (or cookie). Pretty clever.  I think we each liked some flavors better than others, but it was fun to try them.

I chose soup and an appetizer plateI’d like to go back sometime for dinner and check it out as I had heard from clients that dinner at Roy’s is amazing.  One for my own bucket list to try out.
