Oahu Photographer at NaPali Coast in Kauai
At the end of last year, I had a wonderful opportunity to shoot for Westjet Magazine. They sent me to Kauai to shoot primarily the NaPali Coast. Wow… what a tremendous experience! We were at the tail end of a major hurricane blowing through the islands and the weather had not been cooperating. Plus, I had made arrangements to take a helicopter tour to get these shots and I forgot that I am afraid of heights!! What?! Honestly, no time to think about my fears, I had a job to do and I had to pray that the weather would clear up! Thankfully, the weather cleared to reveal the magnificence of the NaPali Coast and I just had to let my fear of heights go and leave it up to the higher power and pray that it wasn’t my time. When I gave it up, I really enjoyed myself. The helicopter ride was exhilarating. Here are some images I shot from the air…
I chartered a doors off helicopter tour and my tour guide took me to places only accessible by air. I have to tell you that the interior of this helicopter was probably as wide as my hands up in a cross, fingertip to finger tip… I quote my husband “this helicopter is basically a tin can”… not to scare you, but that is the first impression! But it lent itself to the exhilaration of the entire experience. If you ever take a helicopter tour, DOORS OFF is the only way to go! Truly, the best way to see Kauai. Valley after valley, truly beautiful.
Since it had been raining because of the hurricane, all of the waterfalls were activated. As you can see, the more inland we were, the more overcast it was.

The “Jurassic Park” waterfall, Manawaiopuna Falls.. very awe inspiring to see it.
Flying out of the valley and Voila!! The beauty that is the NaPali Coast of Kauai. I was so happy to see this… clear blue skies and all those colors coming to life.
